Cervicogenic headaches

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 more people are working from home and using computers for prolonged periods of time. This can lead to cervicogenic headaches. Cervicogenic headaches originate from the upper cervical joints and are felt in one or more areas of the head and/or face. Trigger points (tight knots) in the neck muscles (trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, scalenes, elevator scapulae, pectorals major and minor and the short sun-occipital neck extensor muscles) can refer pain to the head and/or face. Studies suggest that manual therapy of the cervical spine is effective in reducing the pain intensity and frequency of cervicogenic headaches.
